Bangkok, Thailand. By Nompumelelo Majola

Bangkok's cityscape is very much influenced by religion and culture. Much of the landscape comprises of historically rich buildings, such as the Emerald Palace and the many temples in which monks and people who are affiliated Buddhism practise their religion. Because of this, in my opinion, I feel that the space has a very respectful and sacred feel to it and this causes one to feel very peaceful and tranquil in this space, as I have experienced in my travels to Bangkok in 2009. However, Bangkok is a very big and vast city and therefore this forms only one aspect or part of the city.

The city centre is a very different scene. It is very dense and gives off a congested atmosphere because of the constant traffic jams and the thousands of people that walk these streets daily.

Bangkok is a tourist-friendly environment and the markets of Bangkok are very well known for their cheap and affordable markets. The market on the river is a very different experiance that most tourists enjoy.

In conclusion, Bangkok is a multi-faceted place that allows for many different activites to take place in one area. However, I feel that it does not wok ideally as a city should.
