The matrix is situated on the East side of East campus,The University of the Witwatersrand. I am calling this building a plaza because,it is in this building where food outlets such as Nino's is embedded on the first floor,where students can buy their breakfast in the morning and various types of fast foods during the day. On the lower ground there is Campus Health,where each and every student can go if need be. The first floor contains CCDU Offices,book shop, various types of banks. There is no need for a student to go beyond the walls of this building for anything concerning their academic needs,be it books,money matters,counseling,it is all here.
Outside the matrix
The outside of the matrix is always dominated with students,all the time during week days,because they find it comfortable to meet in their social groups here since it is an enclosed area,with public furniture they can utilize(mostly used for placing what the are going to be smoking). This area protects them from the harsh conditions such as the sun,wind and rainy days. As I walk pass here almost all the days that I am here at school, I feel uncomfortable,with the smoke that is in this areas atmosphere,and the domination of students.
In conclusion,it is very rare that you will find this area empty,as it is an economic hub for the school people always have something to buy.
zintathu: i also like this place because we get our daily meals and the new butcher shop that has just opened is taking all the customers man. i feel that hubby bubbly or any kind of smoking should not be allowed in this area for the second hand smoking might have their effects and because the smoke makes some of us run out of apetite.
