DINEO LEKGOTHOANE 608390:Bree Street, Johannesburg

adapted from: tonymac04.hubpages.com

This is a good example of a part of a city that has the ability to bring people together. The buildings in this area gives a visual pleasure which none of them can give individually (Cullen, 1959). The parking alongside the road shows how people here closely relate to this street precinct. This street allows for what Cullen calls Serial Vision (Cullen, 1959). The street is continuous, and reveals its different elements. These may include the main path, which is a channel in which people tend to move (Lynch, 1960). At the bottom right, there is a soft edge which separates the two phases being the main path, and the space near the buildings alongside (Lynch, 1960).

  1. Lindiwe Gugushe:i don't think the street is a friendly environment for socialising because it is so busy and everyone is rushing to get to their destinations.

  2. Dineo Lekgothoane: The environment may not be friendly as such, but would I be wrong to say that the shops there keeps people coming into the area?

  3. that is a really good analysis but i do not think that it complements the street you chose there dineo and don't you think that the influx of people to the area since you said that it brings people to together will bring problems and urbanization which will lead to destruction? zintathu mazamane
