Church Square Park:
church street and Paul Kruger street. Pretoria CBD.
This is the bird's eye view (image 1) of the entire park.
It has four entrances and the paths for which it is much better for traffic management as they are wide enough and to accommodate all types of movements during any time of the day.
The surrounding of the park.
When we look at the surrounding features of the park (Image2) we see building that are Georgian colonial style (18th century) and as we look closely, we see that the building is used as a bank (standard bank) which is the main bank back in that region, so the building's tone shows great importance and it's function.
Northern entrance(image 3) it's clear that the park is used for variety of activities, commercial and socializing purposes.the population can be considered in terms of safety because a place with many people has low criminal activity.
(image 4) around the park there proper parking spots for people who have came with cars.
The inside of the park.
the park is equipped with great landmarks, the statue of Paul Kruger and the towers of the Georgian buildings, and all the types of the buildings surround the park.
but the park it lacks trees for adequate shading, mostly cloudy days its only when people tent to sit on the lawns. and its unwelcoming for children because it does not have Seesaws, swings, Mary-go-round and etc.
To conclude, the park is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the freedom it provides but however there are some properties that it lacks to make it the perfect place

Nice analysis, i liked how you described this square. Regarding its accommodation for children, would you say its a space restricting children as a whole and only accommodating for "older" people? (Katlego 674426)
ReplyDeleteYes, defiantly. it would be a not so great venue to host for children's parties, children need a place where they can have adventure. a place with great landmarks like those. according to children it would be regarded as "BORING". And i have also observed that most population is the older.
ReplyDeleteI love your analysis especially the fact the you mentioned both the positive and the negative factors affecting this park. However i think a locality map would be very usefull to those who do not know how to locate this place.(Lerato 605058)
